Vigilance raids on National Games OC offices

Largescale financial irregularities alleged in a complaint against some OC officials

PTI | March 15, 2011

The sleuths of Jharkhand Vigilance Bureau today launched raids in the offices of National Games Organising Committee (NGOC) in Ranchi and Dhanabd, according to vigilance department sources here.

The raids began this morning at the NGOC's main office at Mohrabadi in the state capital, besides its office in Dhanbad, the sources said.

The bureau has been carrying out intermittent raids at various places ever since it filed an FIR against four senior NGOC office-bearers in October last year.

The FIR was filed after Jharkhand Wrestling Association general secretary Bholanath Singh had lodged a written complaint with the vigilance bureau accusing NGOC officials of misappropriation of funds in the run up to the 34th national games.

The FIR alleged largescale financial irregularities had been committed in the purchase of sporting equipment and other related things.

The February 12-26 national games was held in Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Dhanabd.
