Mani Shankar Aiyar is keeping his mouth tightly shut after leaving everyone talking about his views on the Commonwealth Games. On Thursday, he announced his vow of silence till the event is over on October 14.

While he pretended to go silent on his own, he appears to have been pulled up by the Congress leadership as everyone in the government and the ruling party was stung by his sarcastic comments, wishing the Games to fail.

In an interview to a TV news channel, he said he would not comment on the Commonwealth Games for the time being but would definitely share his views once the big show is over.

On Tuesday, he had created a flutter saying "Personally, I will be unhappy if the Commonwealth Games are
successful." This was for the second time that he criticised the event. Earlier he had pointed out that it would have been better and cheaper to create a new sports township for the international sports bonanza instead of putting entire Delhi to chaos for months and making huge expenditures for structures that will be of no use later.
