The fourth edition of the World Telecommunication Development Conference 2010 would be held in Hyderabad from May 24-June 4.

The conference is jointly hosted by the department of telecom, ministry of communications and information technology, government of India and information technology and communications department government of Andhra Pradesh

About 1200 participants from over 191 countries across the globe are participating in the conference.

The conference aims to agree on development priorities in view of the high-level recognition of the digital divide created by rapid but uneven expansion of information and communication technologies (ICTs) and to promote international cooperation and partnerships that can sustain and strengthen telecommunication infrastructure and institutions in developing countries, an official release said here today.

The World Telecom Development conference is held once in four years and the previous one was held in Doha in 2006, it said.

The state government shall extend all requisite coordination and cooperation to the government of India and co-host UN International Union (ITU) in this regard and take all the steps that are required to facilitate the conference, the release added.
