Differently-abled woman refused by pvt airline

Crew alleged it was not safe to have her on board

A differently-abled woman passenger on a flight to Mumbai was offloaded by a private airline SpiceJet after the crew alleged it was not safe to have her on board.

J Ghosh (40) was not allowed by the crew members of Spicejet's Kolkata-Mumbai flight to fly on Sunday alleging she was a mental patient and that it was not safe for the airline to allow her inside the aircraft, sources said at the N S C Bose International Airport.

After being denied the permission to fly, Ghosh lodged a complaint with the SpiceJet authorities.

The SpiceJet authorities after receiving her complaint apologised to her and said she would be accommodated in their flight to Mumbai on Monday, they added.

Ghosh alleged that the pilot was "adamant" in not allowing her to fly though some people tried to convince him to take her on board.

"I think such people should get a show cause notice. They don't deserve to hold the job. They are not human beings," she said.

Ghosh was reported to be a teacher at Kolkata's Indian Institute of Cerebral Palsy and a frequent flier across the country and abroad.
