Sri Lankan media baron, business tycoon and Chairman of The Capital Maharaja Group conglomerate, Rajandram Rajamahendran, passed away at Colombo early Sunday morning. He was 79.

Rajamahendran was suffering from health problems and was receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo.  

Popularly known as ‘Kili Maharaja’, he was the son of Sinnathamby Rajandram, one of the founders of The Capital Maharaja Organisation Limited.
 
Maharaja Group business spans the fields of media, IT manufacturing, marketing, exports, communications, foods and packaging.

Sri Lankan media termed his death as ‘End of an Era.’

Speaking about his sudden demise, Markand Adhikari, Chairman, Governance Now, SAB Group said, "Saddened to hear it. It's a personal loss. Kili was very close friend to our family."
